This is the standard of HOLY hip hop!
Whether you prefer gospel or secular, one listen to timothy brindle's The Great Awakening will have you searching the world over in hopes to find an album that will surpass it's quality... good luck (believe me, i've tried). From the intro to it's final "liberation", the lyrics to the production, the album shines a much needed light on gospel rap. Me being a gospel rapper, i found myself yearning for the truth and not a candy coating. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of great cats out there, but more and more recently i've found secular albums that had a gospel label attached to them. Not in this album. From start to finish, the clear message of Jesus the Christ and His life, death, and resurrection are evident. 18 solid tracks, each one reppin Christ to the fullest. Not a lot of cameos but surefire lyricists such as J-Silas (can we get an album please) and muze ONE. And then there's this cat i had never heard of who's all over the disc (shai linne - can we PLEASE get an album). But it's Mr. Brindle whose distinct voice we hear that makes the album superb! Cross Movement's Holy Culture was my fav album of all-time (i still luv the philly cats) until I heard this. Best tracks (besides the ENTIRE cd) are #11 Love Music (gina campbell rips it) and #18 Liberation (my wife loves that track). Thank you Tim and DJ Essence for renewing in me that much needed flame for my Savior and for showing me that all gospel rap is not commercial.

i first heard timothy brindle in concert at Crossover Community Church in Tampa Fl., i was hooked and bought his CD "the great awakening" at the show. It is an incredible CD with a no holds barred message of the Gospel. Start to finish. So i am in agreement with all the post by chozen 1 on this one. Tonight i am going to yet another tb concert at the same venue. One of the elders of my home church is going with me to check out the whole CHRISTian rap scene. i think he will get a charge outta it.
